Are you certain you packed everything you need for your business trip? What method have you devised to make certain you have packed what you need? This may sound like a very basic question and some folks who are seasoned travelers may scoff and say, “Seriously Mitch, you have been getting way too basic this month for my taste.”
Well my friends here is the news flash – Really? You see as one gets busier, it is easier to become distracted. In fact, you may have people, your people who actually will be packing for you. Yes, this is a fact. My point is take the time now to create a system, a method, a list of what you want to bring with you. Details are critical. This way when it is time for your people to pack for you, they will just follow your system.
This may look different if you are taking a three day trip vs. a ten day trip. The system may look different if you are traveling Internationally vs. Domestic U.S. only. Take all of this into consideration as you create your system.
Tell me if you would rather have this done for you in a template format. Seriously, if you are not going to go to the effort, just let me know and this will be created as a bonus free download from my ezine in the near future just for you.
By the way, I did pack my pants.

The more I travel the more systems I develop. Each trip my luggage gets smaller.
I think experience is the best way to develop systems.
Laura,
Yes, agree on experience. Sometimes when we are super busy and distractions may exist a check list is helpful.
Mitch
Hi Mitch,
I’d love your list and can you also send me some “people” to pack? 🙂
Write on!~
Lisa
Lisa,
Okay, you are on my list for a checklist.
Mitch
Thanks for the article Mitch. For my computer stuff, laptop, hotspot, mouse, cables, phone, charges.. no problem. I never forget anything and there is a place for it all in my carry-on laptop case. Now as for my clothes, makeup, jewelry…I always forget something – even with a list. Last trip, I went without makeup. The trip before, I went without socks. I would find a template helpful! Pretty please. All the best – Debbie
Debbie,
Your answer is exactly what I hear all the time! Let’s see what I will come up with for all of you.
Mitch
Indeed as Laura indicates it’s usually a process of trial and error – my bags have certainly gotten lighter the more experienced I get!
Heidi Alexandra
Heidi,
Would a check list be helpful? Then as you decide what does not need to come along you cross it off the list?
Mitch
Indeed a checklist would be great Mitch!
Ya, I’m a big fan of the carry-on only policy for trips. You do get savvier the more you travel. Systems are a big part of this! Thanks for the reminder.
Jenny,
I bet you are a pro!
