When Do You Do Your Best Thinking?

https://easysmallbusinesssolutions.com/interested-mastermind-group/Ever come up with a thought to solve something or invent something and it was so amazing you could not wait to write it down or type it up and when you were ready to write it down or type it up you were not able to recall the details at all? You’re not alone!

Taking a quick survey of some people asking the question – When do you do your best thinking? Here are some of the responses –

“In the morning when I am not rushing to get into anything work related and have no other immediate obligations. In others words – hardly EVER!”

“Definitely when I am in the shower. It is the only time I am alone with nothing else going on and no one looking for me to respond to something or do something for them.”

“In your Mastermind Groups so many discussions take place with you and among the participants. Afterwards I have so many thoughts and ideas that bubble up. I thought it was only me. Then I asked a few of the other participants and they find the same thing happens to them!”

“Without a doubt when I am at the beach by the ocean relaxing. I zone out. This is my best thinking time and place.”

“When I go rock climbing. I have to focus on the climb and nothing else. Eventually this becomes part of the activity of climbing. Then my mind moves into thinking mode. It kind of just happens. I can’t control it other than to say when I am rock climbing it will happen!”

Before the article continues on – take a moment and note in the comments section – when do you do your best thinking? Type in your experience for you. Thanks!

In actual fact there is not a wealth of information available on why our best thinking happens when it does. For one thing how do you sit someone down and monitor them to determine when they are going to have a random thought or idea!

In addition to the comments listed already some people said –

“When I listen to music I do my best thinking.”

“When I am surrounded by other people is when I conduct my best thinking.”

“When I am at a concert in the crowd random thoughts keep coming to me.”

If you are able to identify and harness when you do your best thinking wouldn’t this be helpful to you?

Are You Working Hard, Hardly Working or Same Old, Same Old

Recently I was in a corporate setting for a few hours a day for a few days in a row consulting by conducting leadership training for a group of executives and managers. There were various moments where I passed people in the hallways, or were near people in the elevators or the coffee area or rest rooms. A common greeting for a number of people at the workplace I heard was
“How Are Things With You?”
“Okay, Working Hard, You?”
“Yes, more like hardly working” or
“You know Same Old, Same Old”
Now you recognize as I did these are not the C-Suite folks having these conversations. Corporate Level Executives have their own methods of greeting each other. A topic for another day.
Isn’t it great as an entrepreneur, a small business owner or a solo-preneur we are not even remotely thinking this way? Right?
Here is my question for you – do you feel you are working too hard? Do you actually view how you work as hard? Or are you working effectively and efficiently? Do you identify the areas which you should not be spending your time and effort on and seeking to find the right person to perform these tasks and activities for you? Are you creating systems to leverage your repeatable activities?
If you were in a corporate position before isn’t it great to never think about the clock moving or hardly working due to a slow down? You may have even felt you were just putting in your time to collect your check and your health insurance coverage. Is this what you were meant to do with your life? What is your purpose and meaningful contribution to society?
We as entrepreneurs, small business owners, solo-preneurs owe it to ourselves and our business to take action, to grow, to continue to learn, to work with mentors, coaches and people who will challenge us to excel. Keep us fresh. Participate in Mastermind Groups to be with peers and hear from them how they are working and conducting their business and solving tough issues that arise.
If you are in a rut and feeling the blues, find someone who works in a corporate office and have them give you a tour. This may be all it takes to help you snap out it!
Are you in a corporate role now and you identify with what is being said here? There is an entire universe you may want to become a part of now and you may want to get in touch with me.

Mastermind Groups

A Mastermind is the harmonious alliance of two or more minds that create a friendly environment to gather, classify and organize new information for fast and effective implementation. Napoleon Hill from Think And Grow Rich
Do you run and possibly participate in Mastermind meetings? Do you run meetings that meet this definition?
Do you feel you must know at least one or more people in your Mastermind for it to be effective and a learning experience?
These questions all arise as I have attended a twelve person Mastermind meeting today which ran all day long and I knew one person in an introductory and business transaction way. No one else in the room ever met me and this was the way it was for the majority of the room.
I found this meeting to be open, effective and a few AHA’s were there for me as well as others. For a Mastermind to be helpful must you have a relationship with everyone or a few of the members?
It was great to hear feedback from smart people who really knew absolutely zero about me. In some ways it may have permitted a true response from their experience without any pre-judgement of what I should be doing.
Here is the fun part – the advice, conclusions and tips were virtually the same as were received in a familiar Mastermind Group meeting in Los Angeles over a week ago where I am a member with a group of really brilliant people who are dedicated to each other and our success. This group meets on the phone each month and conducts in person meetings. We all feel like family. We support each other emotionally and in our business as each area does arise at different moments. Now these additional elements bring these meetings to a new height and depth of understanding for all of us. It is something special to be a participant and contributor to. The question is – is this what makes up a true Mastermind Meeting experience – the accountability, the support for you emotionally and in your business? Share your point of view and let’s discuss.
