Celebrate Your Way to Success in Business and Life

Business SuccessThe Presidential Inauguration was an event across a few days earlier this week. There was the formal swearing in, a dinner and event, the ceremonial swearing in and speeches in front of thousands and millions by Television and internet. Various entertainers sang patriotic music and then there were dinners and balls to attend. A true celebration.

What do you celebrate?

Many people will say they celebrate birthdays, weddings, a new baby being born. Holidays such as Thanksgiving or Christmas are often mentioned as family celebration events. These are all important events to have celebrations. What else do you celebrate? A graduation possibly or winning a championship in a sport.
Why is celebration important?
It is necessary to celebrate with those you are close to in your family or friends, as these celebrations are a break from the normal routine of life we all get into. It is a way of reducing our stress and relaxing with those we are close to. A celebration planned gives everyone an event to look forward to attending and participating in.

What if we extend the reasons to celebrate?
What if when milestones are reached at work these became a cause for a celebration? What if the business goals for a specific quarter or month became the reason to have a celebration?  This might become a team building and team bonding activity.
This is not to say a celebration has to be a $150 a plate dinner outing. Everything is relative. The celebration does not have to become a formal event. It might be more of a rewarding celebration if it were an informal event. A celebration might be a catered lunch brought into the office as an example. The point is to show achievement. Hold up the importance of reaching the milestone or goal by the date intended. Keep the conversation at the celebration off of the business, or create an atmosphere by playing music. Set a tone of celebration and happiness not a business meeting.

In summary, review your business plans and goals. See where it makes sense to create an event or a celebration based upon reaching a big goal by a specific date or hitting a target milestone in the business. Let people know you are planning to do this when this takes place. Have fun with it. You may find this works out so well that you will want to create more reasons to celebrate.
