Are You Guided By Your Own Compass?

compass-directionPicture a compass. In fact, ask Google to show you an image of a compass. Notice how many directional points there are on the outer circle. The needle or arrow of the compass will point to the outer tick mark or directional point you wish as you move the compass around in your hand. The needle or arrow hands of the compass are held in place in the center. The solid non-moving parts are this center pin and the outer directional points or tick marks. However without the floating needle or arrow which move around, solidly pinned in the center, the compass is virtually useless.

Let’s use these facts and make a comparison. If the compass points on the outer circle represent all of the areas of your life. If the compass arrows are the actual direction you take toward each of these areas of your life. If you are the center pin – right there in the center of the compass… What happens if the center pin – you – move around and you are not staying right there in the center of your life? Think about the compass. The center pin must stay solidly in the center or the compass is rendered virtually useless.

If you consider this for a few moments it is the reason each of us must review ourselves. It is why we must be clear on our own vision, our own values, our own confidence and ultimately our strong belief in ourselves. Rock solid and right in the center of our own lives.

“I believe that God has put gifts and talents and ability on the inside of every one of us. When you develop that and you believe in yourself and you believe that you’re a person of influence and a person of purpose, I believe you can rise up out of any situation.” – Joel Osteen

This is not easy to do. It seems much easier to lay blame. It seems much easier to make excuses. It seems much easier to be jealous. Start with the person in the mirror.

Take the time to be on solid ground with yourself. This effort is much more effective when done with a professional coach working alongside of you on a regular basis. –> Click here if you are interested in coaching <– The effort will pay off tremendously.

This investment toward your personal growth will be noticeable to your family, friends, co-workers and customers. Remember there is no magic pill, no magic spell, no magic words which will automatically adjust anything. Everything starts with self. Once this effort begins, only then are you ready to break out that compass.

No You Didn’t! Throw Success Away?

Business SuccessThe end of June marked the completion of the first six months of the year. If there is one specific item you, you and your team, and you and your coach must spend some time on, it is to review the first six months of the year. This is simply looking over your start of the year vision, mission, strategy, goals and plans. Then comparing what the reality is right now after six months have gone by.

For each of the items which were set up in the start of the year to set you and your business up for success, what is the story? Write a few lines describing why you are where you are.

  • Vision
  • Mission
  • Strategy
  • Goals
  • Plans

Begin with vision and see if this vision statement is still in line with your current situation. And does this need to be revised or revisited? Or is it correctly stated?

Continue on through the list to the mission statement written in the start of the year for your business success. Is this mission statement still in alignment with your current view of your business? Does this mission statement need to be revised or revisited? Or is it correctly stated?

This process should be continued through each category. A key point is to undertake this effort with another person who will not allow the process to become a ‘festival of excuses’. The purpose is to learn what is working, or what is not working, and then to course correct as necessary.

It is not to say one should only undertake this process in June at the halfway point of the year. You should conduct a review such as this, as often as you wish. The point is there are specific times when you are able to calendar in right at the start of the year a review of where you are, and this is definitely one of those times. Appointments may be scheduled in advance, and materials assembled as you know this is going to take place.

Fact – Period – End of story. Make it happen.

If for some reason you did not conduct this activity and never even considered the importance of this action to your ultimate business success, do it now. Schedule the time, assemble your materials and get it done before August or September.

The point is to take action and complete the process.

If you are ready to have an experienced coach work with you, or with you and your team, on this review process, contact Mitch Tublin and schedule your appointment today. Email info@mitchtublin.com or call 877-907-8223.

Guaranteed Success Tip – Prepare and Take the First Step

How do you feel inside:

  • When you are about to step onstage before a speech?
  • When you are about to present a proposal for a large contract?
  • When you say “I Do”?
  • When you hold your child in your arms for the first time?
  • When you start a new business?
  • When you begin a new position running the company?
  • When you hire your first team member?

What does the first step feel like for you?

  • Does the first step feel like you are about to climb a huge mountain you have never climbed before and you are all alone?
  • Does the first step feel like you are walking along on a familiar path and you are enjoying the walk as you are familiar with the terrain and enjoying the scenery?
  • Does the first step feel like you are about to step off of a high cliff?

This is really where it all happens isn’t it? How you face your feelings toward that first step may determine if you even take that first step or when you will take it. Almost every speaker will say they still feel a bit nervous before each talk they are about to give. They have learned this will always happen. It is natural, and then they move past it and get out there to deliver their talk.

CEO’s currently move from one company to another more often than ever in business history. Each of them feels a bit overwhelmed at first, this is kept within and sometimes they are extremely overwhelmed. They recognize this feeling comes with the job. They move through the feeling to build their team, create their vision and run the company.

In Major League Baseball, even a Cy Young Award winning pitcher feels butterflies before the first pitch of the first game to start the next baseball season. They recognize what these feelings are and they know they are still prepared. They have trained and are ready to perform. They move past these feelings and perform at the highest level they are capable of that day.

In each of these situations, the ability to have an experienced, professional coach alongside has helped everyone in each case move through these feelings in an almost effortless process. No one has to go through self doubt or the fear of their abilities alone.
This is the difference between a high achieving successful person and the others. You prepare for your success and you overcome your doubts. Are you ready?

Will You Be Successful in Your Business When Something Goes Awry?

The importance of creating and writing up your mission and vision statements for your business are critical. The regular visitation of your goals and plans to achieve these goals with timelines are what keeps you and your team on track.

There are times, especially when you are really busy, successful, constantly working, fighting fires and providing your clients with your best, that one may be tempted to push to the side the regular review of the goals and planning process. In actual fact, this is the most important time to review where you are and where you intend to go.

An excellent example is to be prepared for when the unexpected takes place and the wrong items or actions begin to take place. These may be caused from within such as technical issues, personnel or a problem from the outside such as a client incident, a personal relationship gone badly or an industry distress situation.

It is for these reasons that your goals and your plans need to be reviewed on a regular basis. What if cases discussed and considered. Potentially a few “Plan B” scenarios are created ‘just in case’. It is this exact process which actually will prepare you and those involved to be able to quickly react if and when something goes awry.

When you are faced with adversity in your business you correct your course. No one has ever taken their business directly in a straight line from start up to a business success story. Some may speak about it taking place that way. It does not happen this way though – Ever. It is a zigzag path to success.

It is through the regular review process that you become alerted to something which is just not right, it is off center. This will then permit you to put into place the course corrections needed to continue toward the ultimate goals.
